You can take the train on a half day tour to the Nantahala Gorge or spend a full day out on a Raft n' Rail combo trip that adds whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River without ever having to use your car! For the rest of your stay, the downtown restaurants, fabulous shops and railroad museum of the quaint town of Bryson City are just as close. When you want to venture out, just head up the adjacent Road to Nowhere about 2 miles and you will be in the wilderness of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. If you take a different turn, it will take you to the Deep Creek area for tubing and picnics. Also nearby are fishing areas on the Tuckasegee River or local trout ponds. For more outdoor activities, you are near the beauty of the Appalachian Trail and the native town of Cherokee, where you can visit the museums, native shops and the outdoor docudrama Unto These Hills. This charming brick house was built in 1955 and just recently updated. Care was taken to retain some of the 50's flavor and add a railroad theme.
