Vacation Bed & Breakfast Description:
description:The Inn at Bath is comfortably elegant bed and breakfast on the midcoast of Maine. Built in the mid-1800's during the cityââ¬â¢s prosperous shipbuilding era, this large Greek Revival home is filled with wonderful art as well as lots of color and light, and is set among beautiful gardens. The Inn is located in Bath's picturesque Historic District, just a block from the tidal Kennebec River which empties into the Atlantic Ocean 12 miles away. Bathââ¬â¢s locally owned shops and restaurants are within walking distance, as are The Chocolate Church Arts Center and Bath Iron Works. The Maine Maritime Museum is just 2 miles away. l.l. Bean and the Freeport retail outlets are just a 25 minute drive. Bowdoin College, with its museums and historic sites is in the adjoining town of Brunswick, while Bates and Colby Colleges are 45 minutes and 1.25 hours respectively. The ocean is close by and can be enjoyed at Reid State Park, a rugged and scenic beach, at Popham Beach, a glorious 2-mile stretch of white sand rated one of the most beautiful beaches in New England and Wolfe Neck State Park, between Brunswick and Freeport. A thought we'd like to leave with you is that Bath is a small, quiet, unspoiled and beautiful New England town, which, fortunately, does not have the visitor crowds you find in the better known coastal Maine destination towns. We hope you will be our guest before too long. The Inn at Bath is a very special experience. Described by Fodor's as '...convenient and comfortable...' Recommended by House Beautiful as 'The place to stay in Bath, Maine and one of the quality inns in the midcoast region'. Described by Lonely Planet as 'Bath's most splendid b&b'.

Vacation Bed & Breakfast Description:
description:The McCobb-Hill Minott House was built in 1774 by Isaac Packard in Phippsburg for James McCobb, who prospered during his lifetime in both lumber and commerce. Mark L. Hill, first u.s. Congressman from Maine, lived in the house from 1782-1842. It was purchased in 1854 by Charles V. Minott, who became one of Maine's best-known shipbuilders. 'This house is an outstanding example of a pre-revolutionary mansion, exceptionally well-detailed and finely proportioned.' (Historic American Building Survey - 1962) Reflecting its Colonial era origins, this home sports heavy window shutters with peep-holes and strong bars, defenses against Indian prowlers. Paneled wainscoting, ceiling mouldings, fluted columns and wide pine floors recall an artisan-age long past.

Vacation Bed & Breakfast Description:
description:The home is on the National Register of Historic Homes and has been featured in a number of publications, including the Bank of England's employees magazine 'The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street', 'The Insider's Guide: Maine's Southern Coast', 'The Romantic Northeast' (Ken Christensen), 'Maine, Off the Beaten Path' (Wayne Curtis), and all three major newspapers serving Bath. Built in 1874 for Galen Clapp Moses, the house became an instant celebrity in Bath when Jim and Larry purchased it in 1994 to create a bed & breakfast. Departing from traditional local house colors, this Italianate structure was draped in the most vivid colors of plum, pink and teal, thus its nickname, 'The Pink House'. There are surprises throughout the house, from the elegant gardens and rooms filled with tasteful antiques to the full theatre located on the third floor (and once used to entertain officers from the nearby Naval Air Station during World War ii). The house contains a number of spirits, other than the sherry served at 5:00pm. Our ghosts, assuredly friendly, are likely to make their presence felt on a frequent basis. Early evening finds guests relaxing on the porches which surround the house or taking a leisurely stroll along the waterfront. A full breakfast is served each morning and varies according to the cook's mood. While juices, fresh brewed coffee and a variety of muffins are available for early risers and late sleepers, the full breakfast between 8:00am and 9:00am adds such entrees as walnut pancakes with orange sauce, mushroom or artichoke quiche, sour cream and chive omelets, baked french toast, cinnamon waffles with Maine maple syrup. All entrees accompanied by honey/mustard sausages, turkey bacon, or sundried tomato and basil sausage
