Explore the old-fashoined small town of Darien, with her rich pre-colonial, Scottish, native-American, Gullah-Geechee and Civil War history. Stroll along the scenic Darien waterfront, watch the shrimp boats unload their catch, and peruse antique shops and local art galleries. Historic Fort King George (1721), the oldest European fort in the state, is located within walking distance of the inn. For dinner, enjoy excellent waterfront dining at Skippers Restaraunt, located only a short walk from the B&B. Open Gates B&B is a family-run, nature-based business. description:Eagle Island is accessible only by boat (round trip transportation provided by Guest Services) and boasts all the modern conveniences and accessories including a state-of-the-art chef's kitchen stocked with kitchen wares, Direct TV, wireless internet, bed and bath linens, a commercial ice machine and an outdoor fire pit. A six person Hot Tub is ingeniously located in front of an outdoor fireplace on the 1,500 square foot wrap-around, screened porch. Eagle Lodge can comfortably sleep 10 guests and there is a two night minimum stay. There are two bedrooms with a queen-size bed in each, the loft has two twin beds that can be converted to a king. There is a large room on ground level with two sets of bunk beds (four beds total).

description:This house has a screened-in porch, 57 ft. long, looking out over the marshes and a tidal creek with a view of Sapelo Island. There are five sets of french doors that open onto this porch on the southeast side, plus there is another 16 X 18 ft. deck that isn't screened. Open the front door and the french doors, and a gentle breeze blows through the whole house. Yet the whole house is quite private.
