description:Shangri-La is a sunny home, completely remodeled, with river access to a community beach across the street, a double kayak, two single kayaks, and inner tubes. With a large hot tub, fireplace with gas insert, high-speed Internet access and unlimited domestic toll and long distance telephone service, this home offers a full range of amenities for all seasons. Two decks offer loungers for everyone and a charcoal barbecue, for additional play space there is a fenced yard. To avoid tracking sand into the house and hot tub, there is an outdoor shower. There is an entrance to the home from the back that involves just a few steps, so the house is accessible to guests who cannot climb many stairs. Sleeping ten, Shangri-La has a master bedroom with king bed and daybed with trundle, a second bedroom with king bed, and a third bedroom with queen bed. The living room includes both a queen sleeper and a queen futon. The king beds and the queen bed can be divided into twins, providing a total of ten sleeping spaces, ideal for working or recreational retreats and larger groups of singles. The great room provides plenty of room for ten people to congregate and there is a dining table seating ten as well. There is an over-sized Jacuzzi tub in one bathroom and a combination tub/shower in the other bathroom. In fall, winter, and spring, Shangri-La offers end-of-the-road tranquility and quiet. In the summer, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, this area becomes a lively family vacation destination known as Summerhome Park. Along with free outdoor movies three times a week, children's arts and crafts classes, and Saturday night parties at the Lodge for adults, the Lodge offers beer, wine, ice cream, a pool table, and games. description:Built in 1901 by a lumber baron, this vintage log home shines with the ambiance of yesteryear elegance. The hand-hewn wood floors, walls, and ceilings, along with original wavy glass windows, antique furnishings and chandeliers, a magnificent stone fireplace, and two river-front covered porches re-create a gracious era when the wealthy journeyed to the river for a quality vacation experience. Located on Westside Road, this home has the best possible location for wine-tasting: there are dozens of fine wineries on this road alone. Hess Lodge retains its vintage appeal with a 1938 Wedgewood stove, but the kitchen functions well for modern-day cooking as well. There is a separate dining room, with river view, opening to a very spacious great room, featuring high-beamed ceilings and four chandeliers, along with a piano. This room has two comfortable seating areas: one focused on the 54 flatscreen television with VCR/DVD, the other on the fireplace, which has an insert with glass doors. French doors open to a covered porch the length of the house with deck furniture, including a wicker settee. There is a half bath on this floor. Wireless high-speed Internet allows those with laptops to stay connected. Downstairs are three bedrooms, two with queen beds, one with a double, and a bathroom with shower and claw-foot tub. These bedrooms open to a covered deck with river view. To one side of the house are two decks, one with a six-person hot tub, the other with a gas barbecue and patio dining set. To the other side is a utility shed with washer and dryer. On the river side, there is a long series of stairs, first going to a riverbank deck with built-in benches and then proceeding down to shallow water access. There is a large beach (Hacienda Beach) just a five minute walk down the road and a three minute drive to Steelhead Beach and Burke's Canoes.
