description:Located in an elegantly restored Queen Anne Victorian, the Joshua Wilton House offers guests an oasis of quiet charm and gracious living in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The Inn features five non-smoking bedrooms that have been decorated and furnished with beautiful antiques and reproductions. Overnight guests are treated to a sumptuous breakfast that may include homemade pastries, fresh fruits and gourmet coffee. All rooms have one queen size feather top bed, private baths, individually controlled thermostats, telephones, clock radios and hair dryers. Luxurious terrycloth robes are provided for your use during your stay. All rooms also have access to a small reading area. We now have small Tv's in room 1, 4, and 5. The Restaurant offers a unique and exquisite á la carte menu that changes with the seasons, along with an award-winning wine list. Featured are the food products of many small local farms who supply our kitchen with high quality ingredients that simply cannot be found elsewhere. Executive Chef Mark Newsome's philosophy of cooking is to present these wonderful products in a fashion that allows their natural goodness to shine through. During the warmer months, seating is available on the outdoor brick patio. Reservations are strongly encouraged, especially on weekends. Smoking is permitted outside only. The restaurant is open from 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.

Two architects from Boston (Richardson and Emerson) creatively adapted the traditional Queen Ann to a Stone and Shingled New England Cottage Style. Thus, our Inn looks and feels like an old summer coastal home at Newport or Bar Harbor. The Mansion stands on two acres, landscaped with rose bushes, flowerbeds and the Old Horse and Carriage Barn completes our picturesque site. Just who the Inn's builder was is obscure, but is believed to have been a New England sea captain who moved to Harrisonburg, VA after marrying a valley debutante.
