The subway allows the quickest access to the main attractions of Lisbon: Alfama (old neighbourhood), Baixa (old city center), Avenida da Liberdade (main avenue), Marquês de Pombal Square, São Jorge Castle and Chiado (traditional neighbourhood). At the end of the subway line (Cais do Sodré Station) you can catch the train to Cascais in a 30 minute trip with the sea as your partner. You can also pick a train to the historic and picturesque village of Sintra. In a radius of 100 meters we have: -2 Subway/Tube/Metro stations ( Alameda Red line & green Line ) - Numerous buses - Train station to the suburbs including Sintra ( 400 meters away) - Special Beach Bus to take you to the other side of the river ( 400 meters away ) So whether you want to see the city or the metropolitan area, from the Alameda area you will get there quickly. SAFETY Most areas of central Lisbon are occupied by offices and when people leave work, it turns into a “Ghost Town”. There are also many narrow dimly lighted streets . The Alameda area is one of the only areas of central Lisbon where people of the middle class still live. Also it has lots of students due to the proximity of the University. It is also extremely well lighted at night. All of these things put together make the area not only one of the safest in central Lisbon, but in the whole city.
