Vacation Bed & Breakfast Description:
description:Charm and comfort await guests in this beautifully furnished Victorian North Carolina bed and breakfast in the North Carolina mountain town of Saluda. All rooms are attractively furnished with period and antique furniture, four poster beds, cable tv, and private baths. Guests will enjoy rocking on the wraparound porch, reading in the library, and fabulous full breakfasts. The Oaks is perfectly situated for a North Carolina vacation. Only 35 minutes from Asheville and the Biltmore House, 30 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 5 miles from Pearsons Falls, 23 miles from DuPont Forest with another 5 waterfalls, and 10 miles from tubing on the Green River. The Oaks was built in 1895 for a local banker. In 1908 it was turned into one of the thirty-seven hotels and boarding houses that dominated Saluda in its heyday from 1880 to 1930. Originally guests came to Saluda to escape the heat and malaria of the low country and the cities of Charleston and Savannah. Today they still come to escape the heat and enjoy the mountain breezes. They also come to visit waterfalls, the Biltmore Estate, or go antiquing. The Oaks was recently mentioned in 'A Guide to the Historic Architecture of North Carolina' ;
