description:Namsen Fishing Through the valleyof Namdalen, 200 km north of Trondheim, flows the majestic Namsen, the largest river-system on the Norwegian west-coast. Here, in Europe?s cleanest waterways is the biggest stock of Atlantic Salmon in the world. Already 200 years ago anglers from England and the continent travelled here to enjoy the Queen of All Salmon Rivers . Well documented and confirmed stories tell about catches of impressive sea-trout, as well as salmon over 30 kilos... Over the past 10 years a successful policy of environmental and preservation policies have secured a steady growth of the Trout- and Salmon-stocks. For those who want to fish from the river bank, there are convenient paths leading to choice spots, dotted with traditional, Norwegian ?gapahuker? ? open-fronted huts roofed with Spruce branches ? and for fishing on the river, we have skilled local boatmen and guides (ghillies). Before arrival it is important for us to know what fishing you prefer. We have several good spots for spin, worm and fly fishing. We also arrange fly fishing in the side river Bjøra. On the Namsen you have a greater chance than in most other places in Norway to land ?the big one? on your hook. The biggest salmon caught here so far weighed 31.5 kilos. You could be one of the lucky ones and take home a memory for life. Harling Fishing. Fishing from a boat is also called Harling fishing. This is when the boat starts in the uppermost reaches of the beat and is rowed across the river, shuttling from bank to bank. The current carries the boat several metres downstream with each crossing, enabling the reserve to be fished over thoroughly. When the boat reaches the lowest part of the beat, it is rowed back up to the top again.Namsen Adventure has a ?rowing-pool? of almost 20 boatmen who are experienced in rowing the beats that we operate. Our boatmen are all trained and most have been rowing for a good number of years. We train up new boatmen every season, with the novices being taught by those who have rowed the river for many years ? this way a good rapport is developed. We should add that our boatmen are complimented by our guests on being interesting and easy to get along with. When we choose new boatmen, we place great importance on personal qualities - and of course, they must also be interested in salmon fishing. We have one member of staff dedicated to ensuring that all boatmen are in the right place at the right time. Something that has proved to be invaluable. Individual guests sometimes want to be collected from where they are staying before the fishing expedition begins ? avoiding uncertainty about where they should be meeting up. Activities In addition to the Salmon Fishing, there are a number of other activities on offer, such as deep-sea fishing, golf, go-karting, bowling, a zoo and a large indoor ?bathing park? ? to mention just a few. In other words ? something for everyone.Namsen is within easy reach of the regions 2 largest cities, Steinkjer and Trondheim so its possible to take a break and just go shopping or sightseeing.
