description:This house was built in 2006 and makes a great home away from home with brand-new, comfortable beds, a 40-inch LCD TV with surround sound, two comfortable futon sofas that can double as beds for extra sleeping. There s a well-stocked kitchen - just bring up some groceries and you're ready to cook and a dishwasher makes for easy clean-up. The washer/dryer will come in handy too and high-speed wireless internet access is a must for those who need to stay connected. Sleep in cool comfort in the high-elevation of the Volcano rain forest. We have high thread-count sheets, warm blankets and comforters and there are space heaters for each bedroom, or fire up the wood burning stove to warm the whole house. This house is insulated, unlike many others in the area, which we found to be too cold when we were house hunting. The area is quiet and relaxing, enjoy the native Hawaiian birds singing. Our lot is nearly a 1/2 acre and has many native Ohia trees with beautiful red blossoms. There are also the giant Hapu u fern trees that grow to 30 feet tall, and tropical anthirium flowers. You'll love this house and there's a lot to do nearby, so you'll want to stay awhile. The entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is about a mile away, but if that makes you nervous, bear in mind the town of Volcano is upslope of the crater and safer from lava flows than other parts of the island. The volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983 and in 2008 a huge steam vent opened in Halemaumau Crater, which can be viewed from different angles at the Volcano House and the Jagger Museum. At the Visitor Center, there's an informative film and rangers can update you on the volcanic activity. There are also ranger-guided hikes available. The Volcano House has a restaurant, if you'd like to eat and admire the impressive steaming caldera that once was a lake of lava. Exploring the park further you'll find sulfur banks, steam vents and the Thurston Lava Tube, which you can walk through. There's also an art gallery in the original Volcano House...

There is cable TV and music as well. A slate lanai makes outdoor lounging an elegant event, the lanai posts are made from the ohia trees that were felled in order to build the cottage. Your house is warmed by a thermostatically controlled propane fireplace, it is cooled by Nature. A large slate bathroom has a double shower with sky-lite and huge window looking into the forest. Wood floors throughout the cottage are ohia, Volcano's most familiar tree, when in bloom, it brings us a bright red flower called the lehua blossom.
